The City of Tomorrow – Shared Living in Mixed Cities of the Future is the third in a series of conferences exploring life in mixed cities have been organized by the Jerusalem Foundation and the Adam Institute for Democracy and Peace.
The 2015 conference examines life in mixed cities in light of the many changes occurring in the world as a result of economic, political, social, technological, cultural and other developments. The flow of refugees and migrants, economic globalization, national conflicts and other processes create unprecedented changes in the urban space.
Experts, social activists, politicians and others from Israel and abroad will convene to discuss issues related to these changes in an effort to contribute to creative and ethical planning for a desirable future.
The opening night will feature presentations by authors Dorit Rabinyan and Ayman Siksek followed by amusical performance by Quartetoukan: When Bialik and Fairuz Meet.
Day One will focus on mixed city planning and the importance of creating an egalitarian inclusive space in the areas of employment, construction, transportation, linguistic accessibility and environment sustainability, from the decision making and management levels to implementation on the ground.
Day Two will focus on social changes that demand renewed planning in educational, political, welfare and other civil society frameworks in mixed cities.
The conference will conclude with a Simply Singing musical event involving audience participation – composing a new tune together for life in mixed cities.
Simultaneous translation (Hebrew-Arabic and Arabic-Hebrew) will be available.
